A LENDA DO GUARANÁ

Release

“The Legend of the Guaraná”, is an adaptation of the history of the Maués Indians, about the origin of their people and the Guarana. Tradition tells us that Guaraná was born from the eyes of a boy. There were three brothers, two boys and a girl, who was coveted by all, causing jealousy to the brothers who always wanted her close by because of their knowledge about medicinal plants. One day, a snake lurked and touched it lightly, making her pregnant. Indigenous mythology tells that for a woman to become pregnant, it is enough that it is touched by someone who wishes and loves her. From this contact, a beautiful and strong curumim was born.

When he grew up, the curumim heard his mother say that he had planted a chestnut tree for him, but that his brothers took the land and expelled it. He then decided to eat the nuts. Except that the place was under the guard of bichos, that denounced it to the uncles. Sensing his son’s death, India ran to defend him, but curumim was already dead. Desperate, she vowed to continue her existence. He took his right eye and planted it in the earth, from which the guaraná was born, exclaiming: “you will be the greatest force in nature, will do good to all men and heal them, and deliver them from disease.

After a while, India was attracted by noise in the grave of her son, when a child left inside, it was her reborn child.
