From the first reading of the novel “Frankenstein”, the PIA FRAUS THEATER realized that it had found a fascinating story and that, certainly, would take it to the stage. After all, the company spent much of its existence creating and giving life to artificial beings.
When the deepest readings of Mary Shelley’s work began, aiming at the development of a dramaturgy from history, it was the author herself, who indicated the way to be followed by the montage.
In introducing her novel, she describes her cultural surroundings, the scientific ideas discussed at the time, the possibility of animating dead matter, and especially how she created her terrible novel: she dreams, she actually has a nightmare, where she sees The creator and his monstrous creature and what she sees is so horrible that it awakens it. She tries to forget what she dreamed, she can not, and then he begins to write … That was it! Make this montage an author’s nightmare, where she watches, interferes, creates and experiences her own story.
This history arouses the attention not so much for its scientific and fictional aspects, but for the incomprehension, irresponsibility and lack of love between creator and creature, questions so universal of the human soul.
