To transgress something is to go beyond, to exceed an established limit and, therefore, it is also to create a new paradigm. And so, the act of transgressing moves us forward, pushes us. And to transgress something brings in itself a courage and a fear, at the same time pushing us into the unknown and alerting us to the dangers of the unknown.

In the year in which you complete 30 years of travel, Pia Fraus wishes to transgress!

In previous years we set up Sophocles, Cervantes, Guimarães Rosa, Nelson Rodrigues, and now, we develop the dramaturgy of our new show from the restlessness of the cast itself and, mainly, from each puppet used throughout those years. All together, actors, puppets, intertwined, forming a great creative cast: acting bodies.

Beto Lima, one of the founders of Pia Fraus who died in 2005, broke the tradition of the puppet theater in which every puppet is made to always present the same character . Here, everyone shares another space, in another time, thus gaining new meanings.

With four interpreters, an intense movement, little use of the text and accompanied by the different puppets coming from these different moments of the trajectory of the group, “Transgressions” intends to provide an intense sensorial dive.

Pia Fraus has already worked with several directors: Hugo Possolo, Naum Alves de Souza, Marcia Abujanra, Francisco Medereiros, were some of the artists who have already directed us; When inviting Lara Pinheiro, choreographer and dance artist, to direct our new show, we seek to bring to the project another look at the scenic making, linked mainly to the powers of the body in the scene.

“Transgressions” marks a rupture without the negative of the past, a desire to go beyond what we have already done from our history, towards the next 30 years that begin now.
